Cameron Highlands to Penang Bus: A Road Trip Adventure

Are you planning the Cameron Highlands to Penang bus trip? if yes then this is the right page. This question comes into mind when you are going to Cameron Highlands from Kuala Lumpur and you do not want to come back to Kuala Lumpur.

I was in the same situation when I went from Kuala Lumpur to Cameron Highlands. I wanted to go straight to Penang and so I did by taking a bus from Tanha Rata the main town in Cameron Highlands. I am going to share my experience with you.

Cameron Highlands to Penang Bus

I went to Cameron Highlands from Kuala Lumpur, and I had the same question in mind on how to go directly to Penang. The main town in Cameron Highlands is called “Tanha Rata” which is a very good place itself.

You can find almost everything there. There is a bus station at Tanha Rata from where you can easily find buses to many cities in Malaysia.

Bus to Penang goes after every 2 hours, but if you just arrive at the station anytime during day time, you will easily find a ticket for the next bus. below is a glimpse of that bus station.

How Much it Cost?

It cost only 45 MYR from Cameron Highlands to Penang. However, if you did not find a direct bus to Penang then simply buy a bus ticket to IPOH, which is another city on the way to Penang.

There is a huge bus station in IPOH from where you will easily find another bus to Penang. I did the same because I wanted to also explore IPOH which is a nice place.

How Much is the Duration of Journey?

If you go directly from Cameron Highlands to Penang then it will take around 4 to 5 hours. if you go to IPOH first then it’ll take 2 hours to IPOH and another two hours to Penang.

The journey from Cameron Highlands to Penang is amazing. you will find scenic beauty on the way. it’s all lush green and clean. you might fall in love with it.

The bus arrives at George Town bus station in Penang. you can hire a taxi there to reach your hotel/hostel. Taxis in Penang are not expensive and easily available outside the bus station.
