Just 6 hours by road from New York, Montreal is the largest city in Canada’a Quebec province. it’s basically a French speaking city with English also spoken by majority of people as a second language. Montreal is a beautiful, authentic city which gives the real taste of European architecture and north American lifestyle.
How expensive is Montreal?
I stayed in Montreal for a week, it was May which is the starting of summer season. therefore, the prices go up a little bit for accommodation. but still I was able to find a bed space in a nice hostel located in Old Montreal city for $25 Canadian dollars (CAD) a day. the hostel offered me free breakfast in that price, and it was very friendly hostel with strong chances of friendship and gathering with other travelers. Click Here for that hostel.
Then, there is a very comprehensive and modern transportation system in Montreal. The metro train connects most of the city through four different lines. it cost $3 CAD for a single journey, and if you are for a week or month then you can buy a deal which will cost very less. There are also metro buses which cost the same price. Taxis are available everywhere, but cost a lot more (like every city in the world, taxi cost more).
Food and drinking are for the same price like rest of Canada. I used to do lunch with a Subway burger which usually cost me $10 CAD and sometimes even less. I also did dinner for the same $10 CAD in a buffet restaurant. so that simply means, if you are a budget traveler then Montreal will cost you around $60 CAD a day if you stay in a hostel on shared facilities. and if you stay in a private room then expect $100 CAD a day or more.
What to see in Montreal?
Montreal is an amazing city with so many things to offer. The Old Montreal City is a place where you’ll find historical museums, churches and old European architecture. that’s a nice place to stay as well, because you’ll explore most of the attractions by walking. and then there is Downtown, which is full of restaurants, cafes, bars and so many things for active and summer life.
Mount Royal is a large volcanic-related hill or small mountain in the city of Montreal, immediately west of downtown Montreal. The train goes straight to Mount Royal, which is the most cherish place in Montreal. There is a big park there, and you can have a city view from the top. that will make your Montreal trip a perfect one with so many great memories and captures.
And don’t forget to visit Canada’s largest Casino in Montreal, The Montreal Casino is a casino located on the Notre Dame Island in the borough of Ville-Marie in Montreal, Quebec, and is the largest casino in Canada. The casino is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to patrons aged 18 and older. it’s a wonderful place.
Last but not the least, please share your Montreal experience in the comments for my readers. I enjoyed my seven days in Montreal a lot, and I’ll come back to this city very soon for further exploration. and don’t forget to watch this travel video I recorded in Montreal. Thanks for reading and happy traveling.
